Gianyar Posyandu distributes 8,700 plant seedlings to support village aesthetics

The Posyandu Development Team in Gianyar, Bali, has handed over 8,700 seedlings of various flower species to support the aesthetics and a healthy, beautiful rural environment. “The objective is to encourage community participation in creating a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable environment,” said the Chair of the Gianyar Posyandu Development Team, Surya Adnyani Mahayastra, during the seedling handover in Peliatan Village, Gianyar Regency, on Wednesday.

The thousands of ornamental plant seedlings were given to villages participating in a provincial-level ‘telajakan’ competition in Bali. The villages competing at the provincial level are Peliatan, Mas, Batubulan, Kemenuh, Celuk, Kedisan, Sanding, Saba, Petak Kaja, and Kerta.

The wife of the Gianyar Regent added that the distribution of these plant seedlings promotes community participation in creating a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable environment, while simultaneously strengthening the culture of mutual cooperation in environmental management in Gianyar Regency. Telajakan is a public and residential green open space that serves as a boundary between a resident’s front yard and the main road.

Surya added that telajakan plays a vital role in optimising its function as a green space that not only beautifies the environment but also supports environmental conservation and increases public awareness in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of their area. “Telajakan also serves as a space for social interaction that reflects the harmony between humans, the environment, and Balinese culture,” she said.
