Gianyar Police Urge Residents to Secure Homes During Galungan Prayers

Gianyar Police are reminding residents to ensure their homes are secure when leaving for temples to celebrate Galungan and Kuningan. Residents are also urged to switch off unnecessary electrical appliances to prevent fires caused by short circuits. “From a security aspect, we urge you to please secure your homes when leaving. Lock them properly,” said Gianyar Police Chief AKBP Chandra Kesuma during a press briefing at his office on Monday (15/6/2026). Chandra noted that burglaries in Gianyar often occur when homes are left empty by their occupants. Similarly, house fires in Gianyar are frequently triggered by electrical short circuits. “This is a vulnerable time. It is the same as during Idul Fitri or Lebaran. People go on mudik, then their houses are broken into. So, make sure the house is locked and the electricity is disconnected,” Chandra said. He added that local police stations will secure temples and surrounding areas during Galungan and Kuningan. Traffic management will also be implemented to anticipate congestion as residents travel to temples for Galungan prayers. “There will be security from the police stations in each district. If there is a large concentration of people for worship, personnel will certainly be deployed. At the very least, to manage traffic flow,” he concluded.
