Gianyar Police Inaugurate Borehole Well for Pinda Residents

Gianyar Police Chief AKBP Chandra Kesuma has inaugurated a borehole well in Banjar Pinda, Saba Village, Blahbatuh District, Gianyar, Bali. The new well, named Tirta Chandra Kupa, is expected to serve as a source of clean water for the residents of Pinda.

“We hope the existence of the Tirta Chandra Kupa borehole well can be a useful facility for the people of Pinda,” Chandra said in a statement on Thursday (25/6/2026).

According to Chandra, several Pinda residents often struggle to obtain clean water for their daily needs. He noted that the inauguration of the new borehole well was held in conjunction with the 80th Bhayangkara Day.

“Through this programme, the Indonesian National Police is present not only as a protector, guardian, and public servant in the field of security, but also strives to provide solutions to the community’s basic needs,” he added.

The borehole well is not a conventional well where water is drawn by bucket. A water source near the Banjar Pinda building is pumped to a storage tank. Residents who wish to collect water can simply turn on a tap installed nearby.

It is understood that residents of Banjar Pinda frequently experience difficulties obtaining clean water despite subscribing to the Gianyar municipal water company (PDAM).

“The water often stops running. Residents have complained many times,” said Ketut Keler, the traditional leader of Banjar Pinda.

Keler noted that the same problem is also often experienced by residents of Banjar Saba and Banjar Pring. Lina Apsari, a resident of Banjar Pinda, confirmed the situation, saying that residents usually use the Petanu River for bathing when the PDAM water supply to their homes is cut off. The Petanu River is located not far from the Pinda neighbourhood. According to Lina, residents have been greatly helped by the borehole well inaugurated by the Gianyar Police. “Yes, that is a new borehole well for the residents here,” she said.
