Gianyar Police Chief Attends Harmoni Ramadan 2026 Iftar, Urges Upholding Religious Harmony
Gianyar Police Chief AKBP Candra C. Kesuma attended a communal iftar as part of Harmoni Ramadan 2026 at Taman Maheswara, Gianyar Regency Office, on Wednesday 4 March 2026. He urged the preservation of harmony among adherents of different religions.
The event was also attended by I Gusti Made Sunartha, Head of the Bali Province Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Anak Agung Gde Mayun, Deputy Regent of Gianyar; members of the Gianyar Forum for Coordinating Regional Leaders (Forkopimda); religious leaders; and representatives of civil society organisations.
The programme began with an opening, the singing of Indonesia Raya, the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, a speech, the handing over of charitable donations, the iftar prayer, Maghrib prayer, and the subsequent communal iftar.
Candra said the event was an important moment to strengthen synergy and to maintain security stability amid the diversity of Gianyar’s community. ‘This communal iftar is not merely a ceremonial activity, but a space to strengthen ties among government constituents, the TNI-Polri, religious leaders, and the public. The harmony that has been well maintained in Gianyar Regency must continue to be safeguarded together,’ he said.
He added that Ramadan celebrations, which occur close to Nyepi and Idulfitri, illustrate the community’s real tolerance in preserving unity. ‘Gianyar Police will continue to ensure that the Kamtibmas (security and public order) situation remains conducive, so that people of all faiths can perform their worship safely and comfortably,’ the Police Chief added.
The event took place in an orderly, safe, and cohesive atmosphere, reflecting the strong values of tolerance and brotherhood in Gianyar Regency.
