The Community Empowerment and Village Department (PMD) of Gianyar Regency has received the Village Construction Services (Jakon) award from the Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua Regional Office of BPJS Employment. The PMD Gianyar is recognised for successfully providing work protection and comfort to thousands of workers in Gianyar.

“Through the Village Construction Services (Jakon) Programme, the BPJS Employment Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Papua Regional Office has awarded the Community Empowerment and Village Department of Gianyar Regency,” said the Head of PMD Gianyar, I Gede Daging, in his statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

Daging stated that 2,268 workers are registered in the Village Jakon programme. According to him, thousands of workers on village development projects in Gianyar receive protection and guarantees of safety and work comfort.

“Village governments, as employers, are obliged to provide protection to workers in every physical activity funded by the Village Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBDes),” said Daging.

The activities covered by the Village JAKON Programme include the construction of village offices, maintenance of village drainage and roads, concrete road slabs for agricultural routes, irrigation channel construction, early childhood education school development, and various other physical activities.

“The success of implementing this programme is inseparable from the synergy of various parties, starting from BPJS Employment, the Gianyar Regency Manpower Department, village heads, Village Consultative Bodies, to all village stakeholders,” added Daging.

The Head of the BPJS Employment Gianyar Branch, Venina, appreciated the Gianyar Regency Government for continuously innovating in providing protection to its community. She explained that the Village Jakon programme is also implemented at the national level.

“This programme is a concrete step in ensuring that village workers receive adequate protection. Gianyar Regency serves as an example for other regions in Indonesia,” said Venina.
