Gianyar, Bali — The Gianyar District Government in Bali is prioritising intervention for 991 toddlers identified with stunting (tengkes) as part of the stunting reduction acceleration programme for 2026.

“Efforts to accelerate stunting reduction must be carried out in an integrated, targeted, and sustainable manner through a cross-sectoral convergence approach,” said Gianyar District Regional Secretary I Gusti Bagus Adi Widya Utama in Gianyar, Bali, on Thursday.

The 991 toddlers identified with stunting were identified from data from the Electronic Community-Based Nutrition Recording and Reporting System (e-PPGBM) of the Ministry of Health as of December 2025.

This finding represents 3.8 per cent of the results from simultaneous measurements of 25,896 toddlers in Gianyar conducted in November 2025.

Although stunting cases were still detected, the data shows results better than the initial projection of 5.3 per cent of the total toddlers measured.

To boost the acceleration efforts, the Gianyar District Government held a thematic Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) concerning the acceleration of stunting reduction.

The regional secretary also requested the Stunting Prevention and Reduction Team (TPPPS) at both district and sub-district levels to actively conduct coordination and oversight whilst ensuring that programme convergence extends to village and target household levels.

He also requested reporting on the fulfilment of 31 stunting intervention indicators through the Web Aksi Bangda application, a national application used to monitor and evaluate local government performance in implementing stunting prevention and reduction actions.

Previously, the Gianyar District Government in Bali received a fiscal incentive allocation of Rp5.6 billion after successfully reducing the prevalence of stunting among toddlers from 6.3 per cent in 2022 to 5.4 per cent in 2024.

Among district-level categories in Indonesia, Klungkung and Gianyar, both districts in Bali, rank first and second nationally with respective realisations of 5.2 per cent and 5.4 per cent according to the 2024 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI).
