Giant tie in Senayan
JAKARTA (JP): Thirty young Indonesian craftsmen are going to make a giant tie of 120 meters in length and seven meters in width in a one-week long Young Indonesian Craftsmen Exhibition to be held at Plaza Senayan, South Jakarta on Oct.27 to Nov. 3.
The tie, which will be the biggest tie ever made in the world, will be sown together by the 30 craftsmen in the exhibition starting Oct.28.
Nasruddin Daud, chairman of the exhibition and the tie making committee, said the events are held in conjunction with the 67th anniversary of Youth Pledge Day which will fall on Oct.28 and the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's independence.
Logos of Youth Pledge Day and Indonesia's golden anniversary will adorn the tie, Daud added.
The committee plans to transfer the tie by helicopter to Monument National (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Nov.10 which is Indonesia's Heroes Day. Students of University of Indonesia who are grouped in the Nature Lovers organization are expected to put the tie on the monument, said Daud.
A report of the tie will be made to Guinness Book of Records in Britain and Indonesia's Record Museum in Semarang, Central Java.(als)
