Giant Concrete Pillars Take Shape to Support Velodrome-Manggarai LRT Track
The Jakarta LRT Phase 1B route from Velodrome to Manggarai is scheduled to begin operating in August 2026, connecting East Jakarta with Central Jakarta.
Construction work on the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) Velodrome–Manggarai route (Phase 1B) was under way in the Rawamangun area of Jakarta on Monday (27/7/2026).
The Jakarta LRT Phase 1B route, once operational in August 2026, is set to become a new face of transport in the capital, linking East Jakarta with Central Jakarta.
According to data from the Jakarta LRT project team as of 24 July, overall construction progress on the Velodrome–Manggarai line had reached 96.77%.
This progress includes bridge works at 99.67% and track works at 87.29%.
Overall progress on the stations has reached 84.83%, covering stations from Rawamangun through to Manggarai.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B would serve as an inspiration and role model for resolving the capital’s transport problems.
Beyond connecting East Jakarta with Central Jakarta, the Rp4.1 trillion project will also strengthen intermodal integration at Manggarai Station.
The operation of LRT Jakarta Phases 1A and 1B is targeted to serve up to 18 million passengers by 2028, while also contributing to a reduction in urban carbon emissions through the use of electric-based public transport.
