Giant chopsticks to get award
JAKARTA: A pair of giant chopsticks, created by the Sheraton Media Hotel and Tower in Central Jakarta, will get an award from the Semarang-based Museum of Indonesian Records (Muri).
The eight-meter-long chopsticks will be displayed at the hotel from Feb. 7 to Feb. 28 to commemorate Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 12. China's Ambassador to Indonesia Chen Shi Qiu is expected to attend the official opening.
Museum spokesman Paulus Pangka was quoted by Antara on Monday as saying that the reason to include the chopsticks in Muri's long list was because it was a unique and rare product in Indonesia.
Currently Muri has a total of 668 exhibits from all over the country.
Meanwhile, Ciputra Mall in Grogol, West Jakarta, will stage a barongsai (lion dance) and liong (dragon dance) with the theme The Legend of Zu to welcome the Chinese New Year.
The performance, which is free of charge, will take place on Feb. 7 at the Center Court Arena of the mall and begin at 4:30 p.m.
