Jakarta (ANTARA) - GHD, a leading global professional services company, has officially marked the opening of its new office in Indonesia through a strategic networking reception at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta. The event was attended by leaders from the government and industry sectors, as well as business representatives, including the Ambassadors of New Zealand and Canada.

“This expansion into Indonesia supports the creation of broader collaboration opportunities with our clients and partners in Southeast Asia and beyond, building on the success of our operations in Singapore and the Philippines,” said Jim Giannopoulos, CEO of GHD.

“Indonesia is projected to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2050. We see a strong aspiration from communities in Indonesia and more broadly in the ASEAN region for a future more focused on environmental sustainability and the importance of sustainable resource development, particularly in the food, water, energy, and minerals sectors,” he added.

GHD is currently working on a pilot project for Canada-Indonesia cooperation to bring advanced water measurement technology to the city of Jambi. This project is being implemented through close collaboration with Perumdam Tirta Mayang Jambi City and the Canadian Commercial Corporation. In addition, GHD has recently completed the ASEAN SAF 2050 Outlook report on the sustainable aviation fuel (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) supply chain in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries, as part of a joint Canada-ASEAN research project.

GHD’s office in Indonesia is led by Phil Baker, Principal and Senior Executive Adviser at GHD, with over 40 years of experience in the energy and resources sectors, as well as assisting with international development in more than 20 countries. As a mechanical engineering graduate, he has led and advised on various strategic projects related to energy transition, mining, oil and gas, and future fuels, alongside holding senior roles in international development programmes. His experience encompasses strategy, investment advisory, and project development and implementation in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

“The presence of our office in Jakarta allows us to work more closely with clients in Indonesia, as well as our global clients investing and expanding here. Our main business focus includes the energy, resources, water, and environment sectors,” Baker explained.

Founded in 1928 in Melbourne, Australia, GHD now employs 12,000 experts in more than 160 offices worldwide. As an employee-owned company, GHD continues to commit to providing innovative solutions to global infrastructure challenges. In 2025, the company recorded gross revenue exceeding AUD 3 billion.
