Getakan-Bakas Road Collapses, Klungkung Regency Government Promises Repair This Year
The Klungkung Regency Government has pledged to promptly repair the road connecting Getakan Village to Bakas Village in Banjarangkan District. The road segment collapsed following heavy rainfall. Klungkung Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Agency Head I Made Jati Laksana confirmed calculations are underway to assess the infrastructure damage. This step aims to expedite the road’s restoration process. “We have deployed teams to the site to inspect soil structure and measure the extent of damage. We are currently calculating the required budget to ensure targeted repairs,” Jati Laksana stated during confirmation on Wednesday (27 May 2026). “The shoulder collapse on the Getakan-Bakas road will be addressed this year using the routine budget,” he added. The Getakan-Bakas connecting road collapsed after heavy rain hit the area on Tuesday (26 May). This has raised concerns among residents, particularly students who use the road daily. “Many students from Bakas and other villages pass through here daily to attend school in Semarapura. If the road remains in this condition, it could be dangerous,” said Bakas student Kadek Sugiarta on Tuesday. On-site observations revealed that the landslide has consumed half the road surface, with concrete barriers hanging precariously. Banjarangkan Police Station has set up police lines and warning signs to caution drivers.
