Get the devil out of TV
Get the devil out of TV
From Republika
While many people in our community are busy commenting on the teenage film Kiss Me Quick, I am more interested in commenting on our television programs.
It is obvious to TV viewers that many, if not most, of our TV programs include scenes featuring ghosts. Some TV stations even have special programs dedicated to ghosts and supernatural beings.
Unfortunately, our community leaders do not seem concerned by this phenomenon. Indonesia upholds religion but the country's television stations air programs where ghosts and supernatural beings freely come and go.
At this point, we wonder whether the production houses producing these programs and the television stations airing them realize their moral obligation to the public. Obviously, these ghost programs indirectly teach people to fear ghosts, not God the Almighty. In some TV programs, supernatural beings are depicted as being helpful to human beings. Don't such programs encourage people to "Kiss the Devil Quick"?
It is time for production houses, television stations and community leaders to work together to put to an end to the airing of programs featuring ghosts, supernatural beings and mysticism.
