Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anung, plans to designate Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said in Kuningan, South Jakarta, as a new location for Hari Bebas Kendaraan Bermotor (HBKB) or Car Free Day (CFD). This step is intended to broaden the availability of public spaces for residents while reducing the density of sports activities that have been concentrated in the Sudirman-Thamrin area and Bundaran HI. Citing the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Pramono projects the Rasuna Said area as an alternative space capable of accommodating the high interest of citizens in exercising in open areas. In addition to expanding locations, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also reviewing adjustments to the duration of the event to provide wider opportunities for the public to engage in healthy activities. The development of the Rasuna Said area will be integrated with several environmental policies, including waste sorting programmes and a series of initiatives for Jakarta’s 499th City Anniversary. Through this expansion of public spaces, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is optimistic about promoting a healthy lifestyle among residents while comprehensively improving the city’s environmental quality.
