Jakarta — Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Territorial Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has announced a comprehensive package of discounts on transport tickets for flights, ships, trains, and tolls during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus (mudik).

AHY explained that the government discounts are highly anticipated by the public, regardless of the discount amount.

“These discounts are certainly anticipated, whatever the discount amount,” AHY said at a press conference at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

For maritime transport, AHY stated that passengers will receive 30 per cent discounts on economic-class fares across all routes of the PSO Pelni ships.

“Railway discounts are also set at 30 per cent for all economic-class trains. This runs from 14 March to 29 March, totalling 16 days, with a target of 1.2 million passengers,” he said.

For airline tickets, the government is providing discounts of 17–18 per cent, which AHY claimed is an increase from last year’s Eid period, when discounts ranged from 13–14 per cent.

“Several factors are being adjusted to reduce the price, so hopefully domestic economy-class airline tickets will be more affordable for people. This applies for roughly 16 days from 14 March to 29 March for ticket purchases starting 10 February,” AHY explained.

For ferry transport, 14 ASDP port facilities will offer 100 per cent discounts on port service charges, or approximately 21.9 per cent on aggregate when combining various fees, from 12 to 31 March. These include routes such as Merak–Bakauheni, Ketapang–Gilimanuk, and Kayangan–Pototano.

“Hopefully this will also provide relief for the public,” AHY said.

For toll roads, the government is offering 30 per cent discounts on 25 toll road sections on specific dates—15–16 March and 26–27 March.

“These dates are strategically chosen to help ease congestion. By offering discounts on these particular dates, we hope to spread out traffic and prevent all vehicles from concentrating on peak days,” AHY added.
