Germany-RI science tie-up

JAKARTA: Germany has agreed to help Indonesia further improve the management of the nation's governmental and research institutions as well as companies.

A letter of understanding was signed in Jakarta on Nov. 2 by visiting German Deputy Minister of Education and Research Uwe Thomas and Minister of Research and Technology Hatta Radjasa, the German Embassy said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

"The cooperation is aimed at improving the performance in management of governmental bodies and research institutions as well as enterprises," it said.

The embassy said that under the agreement, the two countries would promote an exchange of experts and information as well as training programs for Indonesian administrative and management staff.

Deputy Minister Thomas was on a six-day visit to Indonesia to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations. -- JP
