Germany and West Java In Talks Over Investments

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: West Java province offered investments deal in several sectors especially renewable energy, textile, and waste management to a group of German business persons, in a meeting on Wednesdayday in Bandung.

Head of the West Java Regional Investment Coordinator Board Iwa Karniwa said the three sectors were the main attention in the meeting. “Germany will invest equipments and technology on the three sectors.”

But West Java also offered the germans to invest on 43 gas fileds in the region, with three up for bidding this year in Bandung regency, Garut, and Bogor.

Head of the German delegation from the Economic Cooperation and Development Ministry said his nation will encourage german entrepreneurs to invest on renewable energy, textile, and waste management sectors.

Between 2005 and 2008 West Java have posted an average trade surplus of around US$550 million annually, data from the West Java Trade and Industry Office showed. This year trade suplus for the first nine month was at US$380 million. West Java annual import value from Germany according to the trade and industry office was around US$80 million.
