German tourist dies in Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Police are investigating the death of a
German tourist who was found dead at a tourist resort in West
Aceh last week.

Spokesman for the provincial police command, Capt. P. Budi
Astuty, said yesterday that the police have yet to verify claims
that the tourist, Kook Britta, 24, drowned in rough seas.

Antara reported yesterday that eyewitnesses saw her drown
while swimming with fellow German tourist, Grigo Mathias, at
Nourma Dieter beach, about 140 kilometers west of here, on
Friday.

The victim was found dead within hours of the sea returning to
calm.

Budi said that after an autopsy was performed on Saturday,
Britta's body was flown to her home town of Munster, Germany, via
Medan, North Sumatra. (rms)
