German President to Visit Indonesia Next Week, Meet Prabowo

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit Indonesia on Monday (15/6) to meet President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. They will discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as logistics and digital technology. German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste stated that Steinmeier will be accompanied by a number of relevant experts.

“This is Steinmeier’s second visit to Indonesia as president. The previous one was during the era of President Jokowi,” Beste revealed at the German Embassy in Jakarta on Friday (12/6). “The main message of this visit is clear: Germany is a strong and reliable partner for Indonesia,” he added.

Beste noted that Germany feels the need to expand and strengthen cooperation with countries like Indonesia. It is hoped there will be an exchange of skilled workers, especially in the health sector. From a business perspective, Indonesian entrepreneurs can also invest in Germany. “In the field of education, studying in Germany is free for foreign nationals who meet the qualifications. So Indonesian students are very welcome to come and study in Germany,” Beste said. During the one-day visit, Steinmeier will also visit the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church, and engage in discussions with Indonesian researchers.
