German President Delighted with Fourth Visit to Indonesia

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed appreciation for the warm welcome extended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during his state visit to Indonesia. In a joint press statement at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026), Steinmeier affirmed that his fourth visit to Indonesia signifies the continuously developing relationship between the two countries across various strategic fields. “I am delighted to be able to visit Indonesia again. This is my fourth visit here. The number of visits shows how important the relationship with Indonesia is for us in Germany,” he stated. Steinmeier stressed the importance of deepening the partnership between the two nations. According to him, the foundation of this relationship has been strong since the Jakarta Declaration in 2012 and holds great potential for further development across various sectors through broader collaboration. “You have already mentioned how important the diversity of topics we discuss is, and how much development there has been in recent years, and how great the potential is to be developed further,” he said. In his statement, Steinmeier assessed that ASEAN plays an important role in building the regional security architecture. “Indonesia is an important stability factor within the ASEAN region and we see that Indonesia is not only convinced of that role, but also continues to develop its important role,” he remarked.
