German preachers checked out

JAKARTA: Two German preachers who were put under house detention by the North Sumatra Police for violating their tourists visas have left the country, according to the German embassy.

The two, identified as Cristoph Roller and Wilson Bude, were put under police supervision in Medan after they were caught preaching in Tarutung deep in the Batak heartland.

A German embassy spokesman was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying yesterday that the two left for Singapore from Medan on Sunday. (emb)
