DAVAO, Philippines (AFP): Two unidentified armed men robbed
then shot dead a German businessman in this southern city over
the weekend, a police official said yesterday.
Ulrich Lehman, 54, a longtime Davao resident who is married to
a Filipina, was watching television with his household help when
the burglars barged into his home in a Davao suburb, said senior
police inspector Marcelo Pintac.
He said the victim was then taken with two of his household
help toward Ma-a bridge in a nearby town. One of the helpers was
able to escape and report the incident to the police.
A report from the official Philippine News Agency (PNA) said
Lehman was shot three times from .38 caliber pistol. The agency
also quoted police as saying the robbers took 14,000 pesos
($538) and other valuables from Lehman.
