German minister tours Asia
BONN (AFP): German Economics Minister Guenter Rexrodt was to leave yesterday with a high-powered business delegation for a 10- day tour of Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
In Vietnam, where they are to begin talks Friday, the Germans are hoping to land contracts to help rebuild the country and get a foothold in a rapidly expanding market.
The delegation is to visit Malaysia Sunday and spend Tuesday through Saturday in Indonesia.
Of the three countries, Germany does the most business with Malaysia.
The German government in 1993 adopted a plan calling for a trade and diplomatic offensive in Asia, mainly to help German industrial firms on the Asian market.
