German Companies Explore Mining Technology Collaboration with MHU
Several German engineering companies visited the operations of PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), a coal mining company part of MMS Group Indonesia (MMSGI), in East Kalimantan. The visit was part of a business forum and site visit initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Emeregy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in conjunction with the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and supported by the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID).
The visit provided an opportunity for Indonesian and German companies to assess field-based technological needs and explore solutions for operational efficiency, occupational safety, environmental management, and emission reduction within the mining sector.
During the visit, the delegation observed MHU’s operational activities, ranging from resource management and mining activities to the implementation of safety and environmental aspects. MHU also presented its efforts to increase efficiency, reduce emissions, conduct post-mining land reclamation, and utilise renewable energy within company facilities.
“We warmly welcome the visit of the German delegation to MHU. This is an opportunity for us to share our experiences regarding mining operations while gaining new perspectives on technological developments and engineering solutions in the global mining industry,” said the President Director of MHU, Kemal Djamil Siregar, in a press release on Saturday (19/09/2026).
Through field inspections and discussions, German engineering companies can better understand the characteristics of mining operations in Indonesia. For MHU, the meeting serves as an opportunity to explore the suitability of technological solutions for the company’s needs, particularly in enhancing productivity, safety, and environmental performance.
“We see vast room for mutual learning and exploring solutions relevant to field requirements. It is our hope that this dialogue can evolve into opportunities for collaboration in technology, engineering, and innovation that provide added value to our operational activities,” added Kemal.
