Gerindra's Syahri Claims It Was His First Time Gaming and Smoking During a Jember DPRD Meeting

Achmad Syahri Assidiqi, a member of Commission D of the Jember DPRD (Regional People’s Representative Council) in East Java, claims that it was his first time playing games and smoking during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) in the council building.

A recording of him playing games and smoking during the meeting went viral on social media. Now, Syahri, who is also a Gerindra cadre, has been brought before the Gerindra DPP Honorary Council on Friday (15/5).

After undergoing the hearing at the Gerindra DPP headquarters in South Jakarta on Friday afternoon, Syahri admitted that it was his first time doing so. He acknowledged it as a mistake and apologized to the entire community.

The 25-year-old also stated that he accepts the sanctions imposed by the Gerindra DPP Honorary Council.

“I comply with the decision of the Party Tribunal. I regret it; I apologize for any mistakes I made,” he said to reporters on Friday afternoon.

“It was just a mistake, I am just a human being. It was the first time (doing it),” he added.

Previously, the Gerindra Party Honorary Council issued a stern and final warning to member of Commission D of the DPRD, Achmad Syahri Assidiqi, following his actions of playing games while smoking during a Hearing Meeting (RDP).

“Giving a stern and final warning to brother Ahmad Syahri As-Siddiq, a member of the Gerindra Party Fraction of the Jember Regency DPRD,” said the chairman of the hearing, Fikrah Auliurrahman, while reading the verdict.

Fikrah said that Syahri would also immediately be given the sanction of dismissal as a member of the Jember DPRD if he repeats the violation.

In its consideration, Yunico S, as a member of the Honorary Council, stated that Syahri was proven to have violated Article 16, paragraph 2 of the party’s constitution regarding the rules of upholding the name and honor of the Gerindra Party.

In addition, Syahri was also deemed to have violated Article 16, paragraph 3 of the constitution, regarding upholding the party’s articles of association and bylaws, as well as the applicable regulations of the Gerindra Party.

Furthermore, he also violated Article 67, paragraph 5, regarding the cadre’s oath to submit and obey the party’s ideology and discipline, as well as to maintain the party’s honor, dignity, and solidarity.

Finally, the Honorary Council assessed that Achmad violated Article 68 regarding the Identity of Party Cadres, that in our daily lives and behavior, we will always act politely, disciplined, and humbly.
