Gerindra's Statement on MPR Quiz Jury: They Should Apologise to Ocha
Gerindra faction chairman in the MPR RI, Habiburokhman, has praised the student from SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak, Josepha Alexandra or Ocha, for her bravery in protesting the jury during the MPR’s Cerdas Cermat Quiz when her answer was deemed incorrect. He suggested that the jury should apologise to Ocha. “We appreciate the student from SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak, Josepha Alexandra alias Ocha, a quiz participant who persistently fought for the truth in the event. Her steadfastness and courage in defending the truth are qualities we should all emulate,” Habiburokhman stated in his remarks on Tuesday (12/5/2026), as reported by detikNews. Habiburokhman criticised the jury and the event host for their anti-critical attitude. According to him, they should admit their mistake and apologise to Ocha. “On the other hand, we regret the attitude of the jury, the organising committee, including the host, who do not acknowledge their error and show an anti-critical stance. They should apologise to Ocha,” he said. Habiburokhman assessed that the jury’s mistake in the quiz competition should not be taken lightly. He wants the entire quiz series to be evaluated. “We should not let our intention to provide education become counterproductive. We propose that the jury for the event be replaced and the event be temporarily halted until there is a serious guarantee of improvement,” he stated. It is known that a video of the Final Cerdas Cermat Quiz on the Four Pillars of the MPR RI at the West Kalimantan provincial level has drawn attention after the jury gave different scores for the same answer. MPR RI Secretary General Siti Fauziah stated that her side respects public attention and input regarding the dynamics in the competition. In the circulating video seen on Monday (11/5), in the quiz, Group C from SMAN 1 Pontianak received a minus five score for an answer related to the process of selecting BPK members. However, a similar answer from another group was given a score of 10 by the same jury, namely the Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR RI Secretariat, Dyastasita. In response to this, Ocha protested because she felt their answer was the same. However, the jury denied it and stated that the participants did not clearly mention the Dewan Perwakilan Daerah (DPD).
