Gerindra's Andre Rosiade Denies Claims of Internal Order to Monitor VP Gibran as Hoax
Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Andre Rosiade, has responded to claims that Gerindra Deputy Chairman Budi Djiwandono issued orders to internally monitor the movements of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Andre stated the issue is entirely false and a hoax.
“The news claiming there was an internal faction meeting led by Budi Djiwandono to monitor Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s movements is completely a hoax, slander, and baseless. That is the first point,” Andre told reporters on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
Andre said the relationship between President Prabowo Subianto and the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, remains solid and harmonious. He also mentioned that he is often asked to accompany Gibran whenever the Vice President visits West Sumatra, his electoral district.
“Secondly, the relationship between Mr Prabowo Subianto and Mr Jokowi, including with Mas Gibran, is currently in a very good, solid, and synergistic condition,” Andre stated.
“One sign of this is that every time Mas Gibran comes to my electoral district in West Sumatra, I am always invited to accompany him. During the first invitation, I happened to be unable to attend because I had duties abroad. At that time, Mas Gibran visited a church in Nias to ensure Christmas services there ran smoothly,” he added.
The Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the DPR RI said Vice President Gibran also asked Gerindra cadres to jointly inspect areas affected by natural disasters in Sumatra. He stressed there was no surveillance order from Budi Djiwandono.
“This evidence shows our relationship is very good, there are no problems at all. Once again, I confirm there was no order from Mas Budi or any internal meeting or discussion, no matter how small, within the Gerindra Faction to conduct surveillance as alleged,” he said.
Andre explained that the instruction from faction leader Budi Djiwandono to cadres was to visit their electoral districts. Andre also noted that party cadres must ensure public welfare programmes run smoothly.
“The instruction from the faction leader to all DPR members from Gerindra is very clear: go down to your electoral districts and ensure public welfare programmes run smoothly. This slanted narrative was deliberately produced by irresponsible parties aiming to divide the solidity of the government coalition,” he concluded.
