Gerindra Urges Hotman Paris to Focus on Client, Not Drag President Prabowo into ASABRI Case
The Gerindra Party has called on prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea to refrain from dragging President Prabowo Subianto into the legal troubles of his client, former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Febrie has been named a suspect in a corruption and money laundering case linked to PT ASABRI. Party spokesperson Bahtra Banong stated that Hotman should focus solely on providing legal counsel to his client and allow the legal process to proceed without involving the President. Bahtra emphasised that President Prabowo has consistently directed that legal processes be carried out according to the prevailing mechanisms and regulations, without any intervention. The party also expressed hope that the public would trust the Attorney General’s Office to handle the case transparently. The statement came after Hotman Paris claimed that Febrie was a pride of President Prabowo for his role in recovering state assets, suggesting his client was being criminalised without the President’s knowledge.
