Gerindra to Summon Jember DPRD Member for Smoking and Playing Games During Meeting

Jakarta, VIVA – The Gerindra Party will summon Jember DPRD member Achmad Syahri Assidiqi, who went viral on social media for smoking and playing games during a meeting on stunting. The party has scheduled the summons for Friday, 15 May 2026.

“Yes, he will be tried on Friday at the DPP in the Party Court,” said Gerindra’s Honorary Council Chairman Habiburokhman at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

He added that Gerindra will take firm action against Achmad Syahri based on the outcome of the upcoming trial.

“That’s why he will be tried in the Party Court,” Habiburokhman stated.

Previously, a viral video on social media showed the atmosphere of a Hearing Meeting (RDP) of Commission B of the Jember DPRD with the Health Office, BPJS, and Heads of Puskesmas across Jember Regency. The meeting drew widespread criticism after the actions of one Jember DPRD member who appeared preoccupied with his own activities.

In the video uploaded to the Instagram account @pak_jitu, the Jember DPRD member wearing a peci and black suit did not pay attention to the meeting proceedings. Instead, he was engrossed in playing a game on his phone. Not only that, he also appeared to be smoking inside the room while continuing to play the game.

The DPRD member seemed relaxed while playing, as a man was presenting on stunting issues, including data evaluation, child nutrition handling, and public health services.

The figure of the DPRD member is said to be Achmad Syahri Assidiqi or Ra Syahri. He is known as the youngest member serving in the Jember DPRD. The 25-year-old man was inaugurated as a Jember DPRD member for the 2024-2029 period.

Achmad Syahri is known to be the eldest son of former DPR RI member Achmad Fadil Muzakki Syah, who is known by the nickname Ra Fadil.
