Gerindra to Summon DPRD Member for Playing Games During Meeting

Gerindra Party Honour Council Chairman Habiburokhman stated that the party will summon Jember Regional Representative Council (DPRD) member Achmad Syahri Assidiqi over actions deemed unethical during a meeting. “On Friday, the Party Court session will be held at the central board,” said Habiburokhman at the DPR, MPR, and DPD Complex on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

Nevertheless, Habiburokhman did not provide details on the specific questions to be asked or the sanctions to be imposed on Achmad Syahri. He only said that the central board’s stance would be determined by the results of the session the day after tomorrow. “That’s why it’s being tried in the Party Court,” stated this Chairman of DPR Commission III.

In a video recording that has spread widely on social media, Achmad Syahri Assidiqi, a Jember DPRD member for the 2024–2029 period from the Gerindra Party Faction, was captured on camera playing a game and smoking while a Jember DPRD meeting in East Java was underway. The summoning will take place on Friday, the day after tomorrow. The video footage showing Achmad Syahri Assidiqi playing an online game and smoking during the meeting has circulated widely on social media, including Instagram.

The video was recorded during a hearing or RDP held by Commission D of the Jember DPRD with the Health Service for Population Control and Family Planning, Social Service, BPJS Health, and representatives from community health centres, on Monday, 11 May.

Jember DPRD Chairman Ahmad Halim previously expressed an apology for Achmad Syahri’s actions that have drawn public attention. “We will process this because it concerns institutional ethics,” he said on Tuesday, 12 May 2025.
