Gerindra to Dismiss DPRD Member if They Smoke and Play Games Again
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Gerindra Party’s Honorary Council will recommend the dismissal of Achmad Syahri Assiddiq from his membership of the Jember Regency DPRD if he violates ethical standards again.
“If, in the future, Mr. Achmad Syahri As-Siddiq, an Economics graduate, commits another violation, he will immediately be subject to the sanction of dismissal as a member of the Jember Regency DPRD,” said the Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Honorary Council, Fikrah Auliarrahman, at the Gerindra DPP, Jakarta, Friday (15/5/2026).
This decision is one of the warning points issued by the Gerindra Party’s Honorary Council after imposing the final and most severe reprimand on Syahri during the ethics hearing held today.
In decision number 05-004/PTS/MK.GERINDRA/2026, the Honorary Council stated that Syahri had violated the Gerindra Party’s Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART).
The Council assessed that Syahri’s actions violated the obligation of party members to uphold the party’s good name and honour, as stipulated in Article 16, paragraph 2 of the Gerindra Party’s AD.
“We hereby issue a severe and final reprimand to Mr. Achmad Syahri As-Siddiq, an Economics graduate, a member of the Gerindra Party faction in the Jember Regency DPRD,” explained Fikrah.
For information, the video of Syahri playing a game, allegedly Clash of Clans, while smoking occurred when Commission D of the Jember DPRD held a hearing on Monday (11/5/2026).
The meeting was attended by officials from the Health Office, Population Control and Family Planning Office, BPJS Kesehatan, the Social Service, and representatives from 15 community health centres.
As a result of this incident, Syahri underwent an ethics hearing at the Gerindra Party’s Honorary Council on Friday afternoon.
Based on Kompas.com’s observations, he arrived at the hearing location at around 2:00 PM, accompanied by the Chairman of the Gerindra Jember DPC, Ahmad Halim.
The Chairman of the Jember DPRD, Ahmad Halim, had previously apologized for the actions of the council member.
“On behalf of the leadership of the DPRD, we would like to apologize, and we will process this because it also concerns the ethics of the institution,” said Halim on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
According to Halim, the case is also being processed through the Jember DPRD’s Honorary Council because it is considered not to reflect the ethics and discipline of legislative members.
