Gerindra Spokesperson: Majority of Public Satisfied with President Prabowo's Performance

Jakarta - Gerindra Party Spokesperson and Deputy Chair of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Bahtra Banong, stated that the majority of Indonesians are satisfied with the performance of President Prabowo Subianto. He made this statement regarding the results of a national survey by the Indonesian Polling Centre (Puspoll Indonesia) on the performance of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. “If we look at it, the majority of the public is still satisfied with President Prabowo’s performance. If we combine those who are quite satisfied and those who are satisfied, the figure is around 64.8 percent,” he said in Central Jakarta on Saturday. The Puspoll survey for the period of 18-26 May 2026 recorded that 64.8 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with Prabowo’s performance, while 28.9 percent stated they were less satisfied. Regarding the uncertain global economic conditions, he said that Prabowo has implemented various measures to safeguard the national economy, one of which is taking action against parties violating Indonesia’s natural resource management regulations. “We know Mr Prabowo is very concerned about palm oil and mining entrepreneurs who have historically made very small contributions to the state. Why is it so small? Because they use various methods, for instance, to manipulate their taxes to keep them low,” he said. Furthermore, he continued, Prabowo will also take firm action against parties engaging in under-invoicing of natural resource exports, such as nickel and crude palm oil. “So, we are very grateful that despite the dynamics, both the strong global pressures and the domestic pressures, which are certainly not easy, Mr Prabowo truly wants to sort out the issue of natural resource downstreaming. We know ourselves that this is something previous administrations could not resolve and it is indeed very difficult,” he stated. The Puspoll Indonesia survey used a sample size of 2,400 respondents with a margin of error of approximately 2 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent. The sample was selected randomly using a multistage random sampling method, taking into account urban and rural areas and proportionality between the sample size and the number of voters in each province.
