Gerindra Sanctions Jember DPRD Member for Playing Games and Smoking During Meeting
The Gerindra Party’s Honour Council has issued a severe and final warning to Achmad Syahri Assidiqi, a member of Commission D of the Jember DPRD. The sanction was given by the Gerindra DPP’s Honour Council during a hearing held on Friday (15/5), following Achmad’s actions of playing games while smoking during a Hearing Meeting (RDP).
“Giving a severe and final warning to brother Ahmad Syahri As-Siddiq, a member of the Gerindra Party faction in the Jember Regency DPRD,” said the chairman of the hearing, Fikrah Auliurrahman, while reading the verdict.
Fikrah said that Achmad would also be immediately given the sanction of dismissal as a member of the Jember DPRD if he repeated the violation.
In its consideration, Yunico S, as a member of the Honour Council, stated that Achmad had been proven to have violated Article 16, paragraph 2 of the party’s constitution regarding the rules of upholding the name and honour of the Gerindra Party.
In addition, Achmad was also deemed to have violated Article 16, paragraph 3 of the constitution, regarding upholding the party’s articles of association and bylaws as well as the applicable regulations of the Gerindra Party.
Furthermore, Achmad also violated Article 67, paragraph 5, regarding the oath of cadres to submit and obey the party’s ideology and discipline, as well as to maintain the party’s honour, dignity, and solidarity.
Finally, the Honour Council assessed that Achmad violated Article 68 regarding the Identity of Party Cadres, that in our daily lives and behaviour, we will always act politely, disciplined, and humbly.
Syahri Assidiqi was previously caught on camera engrossed in moving his fingers on his cellphone screen as if playing a game while smoking during a Commission D meeting discussing health services on Monday (11/5).
He admitted that he had made a mistake and was ready to be sanctioned for his actions of playing games while smoking during the Hearing Meeting (RDP).
In his official statement, Achmad acknowledged that his behaviour was a mistake and a violation. He is also ready to accept sanctions from the Gerindra Party and the Jember DPRD.
“I am aware of what I have done, I have made a mistake, hopefully this will be a lesson in my life. I am ready to be sanctioned by the party and also by the [Jember] Regency DPRD,” said Achmad in his official video statement, Thursday (14/5).
