Gerindra Responds to Jokowi's Whirlwind Tour Across Indonesia
The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has immediately embarked on a safari across Indonesia after recovering from his health condition. The inaugural visit to Lampung also serves as Jokowi’s first step to accelerate the consolidation of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) so that it grows into a major political machine. Gerindra Party Deputy Chairman Prasetyo Hadi responded to Jokowi’s agenda. He expressed his congratulations on Jokowi’s recovery. According to him, the political safari carried out by the former president is a normal matter. ‘As for us from Gerindra, we would like to say congratulations because it means he is healthy again, as he was previously a bit unwell,’ said Pras at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (26/6/2026). Gerindra also assessed that Jokowi’s activities as a national figure are not a problem. ‘And as a figure and statesman, I think there is no issue either,’ he stated. Previously, Jokowi departed for Lampung as the first region in his series of safaris around Indonesia. During the visit, Jokowi revealed that one of his missions is to provide motivation to PSI cadres so that the party develops into a major political force. When met at Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo, Central Java, ahead of his departure to Lampung, Jokowi said he would be accompanied by PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep. ‘Yes, I will meet (Kaesang) there later,’ said Jokowi. Jokowi stated that his presence in a number of PSI agendas aims to provide motivation as well as encourage the strengthening of the party’s structure down to the regions. ‘For PSI, I want to provide motivation, and also convey the important message that PSI’s structural organisation must be completed soon, so that it becomes a major political machine,’ he explained.
