Gerindra Receives Forkopi to Absorb Aspirations on Cooperatives Bill
The Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Faction (Kapoksi) in Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Khilmi, received an audience from the Indonesian Cooperative Forum (Forkopi) to absorb aspirations regarding the ongoing drafting of the Revision of the Cooperative Bill.
Khilmi emphasised that cooperatives are a vital pillar of the national economy, playing a strategic role in strengthening the people’s economy. Therefore, he noted, the drafting of the Cooperative Bill needs to provide a legal basis that is more adaptive, relevant, and capable of addressing the future challenges of cooperative development.
“All proposals will be studied carefully as part of the process of drafting the Cooperative Bill. This is a very strategic momentum to lay an even stronger legal foundation for the progress of cooperatives in Indonesia,” Khilmi stated in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
He also reaffirmed that the Gerindra Party Faction is committed to overseeing the creation of regulations that favour the strengthening of the people’s economy through cooperatives. Synergy between the DPR RI and the cooperative movement, according to him, is a crucial factor in building a healthy, modern, professional, and competitive cooperative ecosystem.
He added that this commitment aligns with the national development vision in President Prabowo Subianto’s ‘Astacita’, particularly in driving economic development that benefits the people through the strengthening of cooperative-based economic institutions.
He expressed hope that the drafting process of the Cooperative Bill could result in regulations that provide legal certainty, strengthen cooperative governance, increase competitiveness, and open wider opportunities for cooperatives to become the driving force for national economic growth and the improvement of public welfare.
“We would like to thank Forkopi for their presence and for all the input that has been provided,” he concluded.
