Gerindra Praises Sudaryono's Performance, Hopes for More Progressive BGN
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono is set to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), replacing Nanik S Deyang. Gerindra Party spokesperson Bahtra Banong assessed Sudaryono’s performance as good and noted he is still relatively young. “I think, as the Minister of State Secretary has conveyed, that the person replacing Mrs Nanik as Head of BGN is Mr Sudaryono, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture. I think he is someone whose work has also been good during his time at the Ministry of Agriculture,” Bahtra told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. Bahtra said Sudaryono, who is also a Gerindra politician, has a good performance record. He expressed hope for improvements in the governance of the free nutritious meal programme under Sudaryono’s leadership. “He is also still young, so he certainly has great energy to manage the BGN going forward. We hope that the person appointed by the President to manage the BGN can be even more progressive,” Bahtra said. “In the context of improving governance and how the BGN can be better in the future, that is certainly our shared hope,” he added. The Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives stressed that Nanik resigned because she wanted to focus on treatment for a heart condition. Bahtra stated that Nanik’s resignation was not due to legal issues. “Mrs Nanik has already conveyed the reason for her resignation, related to her illness and her desire to focus on treatment,” Bahtra said. “In that context, she conveyed this to the President and then resigned. So there is no connection to other matters, because she truly wants to concentrate on her treatment,” he added. It is known that Prabowo will inaugurate Sudaryono as Head of the National Nutrition Agency at 15:00 WIB today. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the appointment, stating, “However, there is a new dynamic where the Head of BGN has submitted her resignation. Once again, it is not easy to find a replacement, so the President has decided that the replacement for the Head of BGN is Mr Sudaryono.”
