Gerindra Praises Sudaryono's Performance at Agriculture Ministry: He Is Also Still Young
The Gerindra Party has praised the performance of Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, who has been appointed by President Prabowo Subianto as the definitive head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Responding to the appointment, Gerindra Party spokesperson Bahtra Banong stated that Sudaryono had performed well during his tenure at the Ministry of Agriculture. “I think he is someone whose work has also been good during his time at the Ministry of Agriculture,” Bahtra said at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. He also praised Sudaryono’s relatively young age, suggesting this factor could be a positive asset in managing the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. “He is also still young, so he certainly has great energy to manage the BGN going forward,” Bahtra said. He expressed hope that the MBG programme would improve under Sudaryono’s future leadership and in leading the evaluation of the MBG. “Hopefully, the person appointed by the President to manage the BGN can be more progressive in terms of improving governance,” he stated. “Then, how the BGN can become better in the future is certainly our shared hope,” Bahtra continued. Sudaryono revealed he first received information about the appointment on the evening of Tuesday, 21 July 2026, after being contacted by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. “After Mrs Nanik resigned for health reasons, I was then contacted by the State Secretary Minister (Prasetyo Hadi), who said there was a possibility last night that I would be appointed to replace Mrs Nanik,” Sudaryono said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. He received confirmation of the appointment on Wednesday morning after receiving a call from Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who confirmed his inauguration as Head of the BGN. “Then this morning I was called by the Cabinet Secretary, Mr Teddy (Indra Wijaya), and he confirmed that today I would be officially inaugurated to replace Mrs Nanik, who resigned for health reasons,” he said.
