Gerindra Politician: Prabowo's Remarks on PDIP Signal Political Stability
Politician Sugiat Santoso has responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s statement that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) essentially shares the same heart as the government. Santoso, a member of the Gerindra Party, stated that the President’s remarks reflect a political dynamic that is not hostile but rather one that leaves room for dialogue and unity.
Speaking on Sunday (26/7/2026), the Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives said the President’s message brings a calming breeze to the national political landscape. ‘What was conveyed by Mr Prabowo is an honest reflection of our national foundation. Although we are in different political vehicles or positions, the basic commitment is the same: to safeguard the 1945 Constitution, Pancasila, and the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia for the people’s welfare,’ Santoso explained.
He noted that for the business world and the wider community, the signal of a shared ‘heart’ and direction between the government and a major party like PDIP provides a guarantee of stability. This proves that Indonesia’s political foundation is solid enough to support strategic programmes. Santoso further elaborated that there is a strong common ground in championing the interests of the ‘wong cilik’ (common people) and economic independence, stating that the goal of eradicating poverty is an inseparable common agenda.
Santoso stressed that while political contests have a time limit, brotherhood lasts a lifetime. He interpreted Prabowo’s message as a clear call that political rivalry must not erode the sense of family, adding that the nation’s energy is too valuable to be spent on disputes when it could be used to advance Indonesia. He concluded that the President’s reference to the legacy of the 1945 Constitution and the founding fathers serves as a reminder that differences in tactical choices do not erase shared historical values.
