Gerindra Politician Hendarsam Marantoko Officially Appointed as Director General of Immigration
The position of Director General of Immigration has officially been assumed by Hendarsam Marantoko, who has a background as both an advocate and a politician from the Gerindra Party.
The handover ceremony was led by the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto, at the Ministry’s office in South Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4).
“On this occasion, the handover of the Acting Director General of Immigration position from Police Brigadier General Yuldi Yusman to Mr Hendarsam Marantoko has also taken place,” Agus stated in his remarks.
Agus hopes that Hendarsam will not only carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position but also serve as a role model in professionalism and work ethics.
He then reminded those present of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto’s directives for the government to realise the state’s objectives as set forth in the fourth paragraph of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
Agus stated that the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services is part of the Merah Putih Cabinet. He added that all authorities held by each ministry are delegations from the President’s authority.
“Therefore, we are demanded to be able to provide the best contribution in carrying out the duties, functions, and roles of the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, in order to support the achievement of the President’s objectives,” he said.
Agus read out the oath of office, which was then followed by Hendarsam. Here is the text of the oath:
“In the name of Allah, I swear that I will be loyal and obedient to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. And I will carry out all laws and regulations as straightforwardly as possible for the sake of my Dharma Bakti to the nation and state. That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of the position, work to the best of my ability, and with full sense of responsibility. That I will maintain integrity, not misuse authority, and avoid disgraceful actions.”
In addition to Hendarsam, on this day Iwan Santoso was also inaugurated as Special Staff for Public Services and Legal Reform.
“The special staff position is a strategic one. You are expected to serve as both a radar and a compass for me in formulating policies,” Agus said.
“In the midst of global dynamics and demands for transparency, we can no longer work with old methods. Therefore, I hope that all members of the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services can continue to maintain solidarity, unity, cooperation, collaboration, and good communication both internally and externally,” he emphasised.
