Gerindra Politician Distributes 5,000 Tree Seedlings and Fertiliser to Sungailiat Residents

Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party faction, Melati, distributed 5,000 plant seedlings to the community at Vihara Vimalakirti in Sungailiat, Bangka Belitung, today. The programme is an effort to utilise residential yard land to support family food security.

Melati explained that overall, she has a programme to distribute a total of 5,000 seedlings to communities across Bangka Belitung. From this total, the Sahabat Buddhayana community received an allocation of 500 seedlings.

“Actually, for me as a member of Commission IV, my aspiration programme includes 5,000 seedlings that I must distribute to all communities in Bangka Belitung. The Sahabat Buddhayana friends received 500 seedlings,” said Melati in a written statement on Saturday.

She hopes the assistance can be utilised optimally by the community. According to her, if this planting programme is successful and receives a positive response, the number of seedlings provided will be increased on the next occasion.

“Later, if this is successful and friends are happy to plant, we will add more. God willing, we will add more,” she said.

Not only providing seedlings, Melati also gave additional support in the form of a personal donation worth Rp5 million to help procure fertiliser.

The assistance is expected to act as a stimulus so that the plants cultivated by the community can grow healthier and provide optimal yields.

“Because these seedlings do require fertiliser, I will also add a personal initiative. I am giving Rp5 million to trigger the purchase of fertiliser. So later these plants can be fertilised to be healthier and bigger,” she said.

Melati assessed that the utilisation of home yards has great potential to improve the family economy while strengthening the culture of farming within the community. This step is also in line with efforts to encourage food self-sufficiency starting from the household level.

Through this aspiration programme, she hopes more residents will be encouraged to manage vacant land into a source of food or additional income.

“With the support of seedlings and fertiliser, the community is expected to be able to create a greener, more productive environment, as well as provide sustainable economic benefits for families in Bangka Belitung,” she concluded.
