Gerindra NTB Rejects Involvement of Dasco in PAN Internal Controversy
The Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Gerindra Party in West Nusa Emba Tenggara (NTB) has expressed regret over statements made by the Acting Chairman of the PAN NTB Regional Leadership Council (DPW), Muazzim Akbar, which dragged the party’s name into PAN’s internal polemics. Gerindra has requested that Muazzim rectify his statements to avoid triggering wild speculation among the public.
This firm stance was conveyed by the Secretary of the Gerindra NTB DPD, Nauvar Furqany Farinduan (Farin). He assessed that the narrative released by Muazzim was tendentious and did not reflect good political ethics.
“Gerindra deeply regrets the emergence of such statements. Do not involve the name of the Gerindra Party to strengthen narratives related to the internal issues of another party. It does not reflect good political ethics,” Farin stated in his briefing on Sunday (2/8/2026).
The former Deputy Chairman of the NTB Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) highlighted Muazzim’s statement, which openly mentioned the Daily Chairman of the Gerindra Central Executive Board (DPP), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Muazzim previously claimed that the former Chairman of PAN NTB, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, had held meetings with Dasco to lobby for the position of Chairman of the Gerindra NTB DPD.
According to Farin, bringing the names of high-ranking Gerindra leaders into the public sphere without a clear basis is a serious matter that must not be done recklessly.
“Therefore, we request Mr Muazzim Akbar to rectify his statements to the public. We must not allow the impression to arise that the Gerindra Party is part of the controversy currently occurring within PAN’s internal affairs,” he asserted.
Farin emphasised that communication between political figures is common; however, it cannot be arbitrarily interpreted as an organisational decision or used to build wild narratives, especially amidst the handling of legal cases.
“Do not sway public opinion with narratives that are not yet clear. If there are facts to be presented, present them fully and responsibly,” Farin added.
He ensured that Gerindra respects the internal dynamics of other political parties and is unwilling to interfere, especially not to be used as a political commodity.
“Gerindra does not wish to be used as a commodity in anyone’s political polemic. We are focused on conducting party consolidation and overseeing the struggle agenda for the people,” he concluded.
Previously, the Acting Chairman of PAN NTW DPW, Muazzim Akbar, revealed the reasons behind the removal of Lalu Ahmad Zaini from his position as Chairman of PAN NTB during a party event in Gerung, West Lombok, on Saturday (1/8).
In addition to issues related to an anti-corruption agency (KPK) sting operation, Muazzim alleged that Lalu Ahmad Zaini had attempted to ‘defect’ by lobbying for the position of Chairman of the Gerindra NTB DPD while still serving as the head of PAN. Muazzim claimed this information was obtained directly from the General Chairman of PAN, Zulkifli Hasan. In his statement to the media, Muazzim also mentioned the Daily Chairman of the Gerindra DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stating that Lalu Zaini had met with the Gerindra leader several times.
