Gerindra North Sumatra Chief Backs Government Stability in Central Tapanuli
The Gerindra provincial board (DPD) has declared support for the stable running of government in Central Tapanuli (Tapteng). DPD Gerindra is calling on all parties to unite for post-disaster recovery.
“Gerindra supports the stable running of government in Tapteng. Gerindra invites all parties to unite and support one another for post-disaster recovery in Central Tapanuli Regency,” said Ade Jona Prasetyo, Chairman of DPD Gerindra North Sumatra, in a statement on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
Ade also addressed the statement issued by the DPC Gerindra branch as part of a joint stance by five political parties regarding the proposed impeachment of Central Tapanuli Regent Masinton Pasaribu. Ade said the DPC Gerindra statement was made without coordination with either the provincial or national leadership.
“As Chairman of DPD Partai Gerindra North Sumatra, I state that the stance of DPC Gerindra Central Tapanuli Regency was made without coordination with the DPD or the DPP.”
DPC Gerindra Withdraws Statement
As is known, five political parties floated the idea of impeaching Masinton Pasaribu over allegations of low absorption of the 2026 regional budget (APBD). Most recently, DPC Gerindra declared it was withdrawing from the joint stance of the five parties.
As reported by detikSumut, the impeachment proposal became known through a video circulating on social media. The five political parties were Gerindra, NasDem, Golkar, PKB and PAN.
“We sat down together to respond to developments currently taking place in Central Tapanuli Regency, particularly concerning the leadership of Regent Masinton Pasaribu, whom we consider negligent and weak in running the machinery of government,” said Hazmi Arif Simatupang, Chairman of DPC Gerindra Central Tapanuli, in the video at the time.
Hazmi explained that Central Tapanuli’s APBD absorption for 2026 stood at only 30 per cent as of August. They therefore judged Masinton to be unprofessional in budget management.
“For that reason, we the five parties wish to convey a joint stance: first, we regret the unprofessional budget management and the lack of capability in managing the APBD, as can be seen from information obtained that APBD absorption in Central Tapanuli Regency for 2026 had reached only 30 per cent by August,” he said.
Hazmi has now stated that he withdraws that statement. He said DPC Partai Gerindra is no longer involved in the joint stance.
“I, Hazmi Arif Simatupang, Chairman of DPC Partai Gerindra Central Tapanuli Regency, hereby declare that I withdraw the statement we delivered in the joint stance of five political parties — Partai Golkar, Partai NasDem, Partai Gerindra, Partai PKB and Partai PAN — issued some time ago,” he said in a video received by detikcom.
“Going forward, DPC Partai Gerindra is no longer involved in that joint stance,” he added.
Masinton Responds to Impeachment Proposal
Masinton has responded to the impeachment proposal. He asked all parties to put an end to political tug-of-war and focus on recovery and development in Central Tapanuli.
“I invite all political elements, government institutions, community figures, mass organisations and all residents to jointly put an end to the tussle over political interests and to direct all our energy towards disaster recovery and regional development,” Masinton Pasaribu said in his statement.
