Gerindra Legislator Praises West Java Governor's Swift Action in Handling Abuse Victim
A member of the West Java Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) from the Gerindra Party faction, Tina Wiryawati, has expressed appreciation for Governor Dedi Mulyadi’s swift handling of a victim who was allegedly confined and tortured by a suspect with the initials TH. According to Tina, the rapid response demonstrated by Dedi Mulyadi, familiarly known as KDM, shows the government’s presence amidst a community in need of protection and attention. Moreover, the victim’s condition, having endured prolonged torture, requires serious handling from both a medical and psychological recovery perspective. “We appreciate Mr KDM’s swift action in immediately giving attention to the victim. This shows the state is present and does not leave the victim to face a difficult situation alone for three years,” Tina said on Tuesday morning. She assessed that KDM’s commitment to covering the costs of treatment and recovery is a form of concern that deserves appreciation. According to her, the victim’s recovery process requires not only medical care but also long-term psychological and social support. Tina stated that the victim must receive comprehensive assistance to be able to return to a normal life after experiencing trauma from alleged years of torture. Additionally, Tina praised KDM’s move to announce a reward of Rp250 million for members of the public who can provide accurate information to help authorities locate the suspect, TH, who remains at large. She believes this step can encourage public participation in assisting law enforcement while accelerating the search for the perpetrator. “Our hope is that the perpetrator can be found soon and held accountable for his actions according to the applicable law. The public certainly wants justice for the victim and his family,” Tina said. She invited all parties to support the victim and to fully entrust the legal process to law enforcement officials. Tina emphasised that the West Java DPRD will continue to monitor the case’s progress to ensure the victim receives his rights, while the legal process proceeds transparently and fairly. “We all hope the victim can recover soon, have a better future, and the perpetrator can be arrested quickly so this case can be thoroughly resolved,” she said. Previously, KDM stated that he was furious about the barbaric behaviour of a man who tortured the victim, causing blindness and cutting his lips with scissors. “I believe the West Java Police team is capable of catching him, but I also provide room for citizens to participate. If any citizen manages to find him, I will give Rp250 million,” KDM said on Tuesday.
