Gerindra Legislator Launches Contest, Invites Public to Monitor Subsidised Fuel Distribution
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission XII from the Gerindra Party faction, Rokhmat Ardiyan, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the distribution of subsidised fuel (BBM) reaches its intended small-scale communities. He has even launched a contest for the public to uncover any fraudulent practices in the distribution of these energy subsidies.
The statement was delivered during a Technical Guidance event on Subsidised Fuel Services Using Recommendation Letters held in Kuningan on Monday (27/4). In the forum, Rokhmat highlighted the ongoing misuse of subsidised BBM, particularly diesel, which is often enjoyed by affluent individuals and large business sectors.
“I do not want subsidised BBM to go to the rich. It must reach the small people,” he stressed in a written statement on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
According to him, subsidy policies represent the state’s concern for vulnerable communities, so they must not be diverted for the benefit of unworthy groups.
“Subsidies must not enter large sectors like mining or palm oil plantations. We must safeguard this together,” he said.
On that occasion, he also invited the public to appreciate President Prabowo Subianto’s policy of maintaining subsidised BBM prices amid global pressures. He viewed this step as reflecting the government’s concern for people’s purchasing power.
“Mr Prabowo is very empathetic to the people. At a time when many countries are struggling, Indonesia can still maintain subsidised BBM prices,” he said.
Rokhmat also expressed appreciation to PT Pertamina (Persero) for its role in maintaining national energy distribution.
“Appreciation also for Pertamina, give them applause,” he said, met with applause from participants.
As a form of participatory oversight, he invited the public to actively report any indications of deviations in subsidised BBM distribution, whether at petrol stations (SPBU), non-public fuel facilities (SPBE), or other distribution points.
“If there is fraud, whether at SPBU, SPBE, Pertamina, or anywhere, report it to law enforcement authorities; I will give a reward. This is state property, the people’s property. Do not let it be cheated,” he explained.
He also asked BPH Migas to increase supervision and strengthen coordination with law enforcement agencies in addressing violations.
“BPH Migas should not stay silent. They must work with law enforcement to take action against fraudsters,” he stressed.
For the Kuningan region, Rokhmat stated that no significant deviations have been found in subsidised BBM distribution. Nevertheless, he reminded all parties to maintain the integrity of the distribution.
“Alhamdulillah, in Kuningan, there have been no findings of fraud. I entrust that the subsidised BBM distribution must be on target,” he said.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining supply availability, especially diesel, to avoid shortages at the SPBU level.
“For Kuningan, do not let any SPBU run out of diesel. Let us commit together for optimal service,” he concluded.
