The Gerindra party’s Honorary Council has issued a written warning to Iman Sutiawan, the Head of the Kepri DPRD. The warning was issued after Sutiawan went viral for riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle without a helmet.

The decision was made during a hearing of the Gerindra Honorary Council at the Gerindra Party’s DPP office in Ragunan, South Jakarta, on Friday (15/5/2026). Sutiawan was found to have violated the Gerindra AD/ART (party constitution).

“We hereby issue a written warning to Iman Sutiawan, a member of the Gerindra Party faction in the Kepulauan Riau DPRD,” said the chairman of the hearing, M. Maulana Bungaran, during the reading of the verdict.

The Gerindra Honorary Council conducted an investigation. Sutiawan was found to have violated Article 16, paragraph 2 of the AD, which requires members to uphold the name and honour of the Gerindra Party.

The council also stated that Sutiawan had violated Article 16, paragraph 3 of the AD, which concerns upholding the party’s constitution and regulations, as well as Article 67, paragraph 5 of the AD, which concerns the oath of party members.

Previously, the Head of the Kepri DPRD, Iman, uploaded a video of himself riding in Batam. In the video, which went viral on Saturday (9/5), Sutiawan is seen riding a Harley-Davidson FXDR motorcycle with license plate BP 6215 VF, wearing a plaid shirt, jeans, and a black hat. He is seen riding leisurely on several streets in the city of Batam without wearing a helmet.

“Today we’re just having fun, taking a break,” Sutiawan said in the viral video.
