Gerindra Issues Stern Warning to Jember DPRD Member for Smoking and Gaming During Meeting
The Gerindra Party’s Honour Council has issued a sanction to its member, Achmad Syahri As-Siddiq, who is also a member of the Jember DPRD. The stern warning, which is also the final warning, was given because Achmad Syahri was caught smoking and playing games during a meeting.
The Honour Council of the Gerindra Party read out the decision in a hearing held at the Gerindra Party’s DPP office in Ragunan, South Jakarta, on Friday (15/5/2026). Syahri was found to have violated the party’s AD/ART (Articles of Association/Party Regulations).
“Having deliberated, we find that Mr. Achmad Syahri As-Siddiq, as a member of the Gerindra Party, has been proven to have violated the Gerindra Party’s AD/ART,” said the chairman of the hearing, Fikrah Auliurrahman, while reading out the decision.
In the decision, Fikra stated that Gerindra is issuing a stern and final warning to Syahri. Gerindra stated that this must not happen again.
“We are issuing a stern and final warning to Mr. Achmad Syahri As-Siddiq SE, a member of the Gerindra Party faction in the Jember Regency DPRD,” he explained.
“If, in the future, Mr. Achmad Syahri As-Siddiq SE repeats the violation, he will immediately be subject to the sanction of dismissal as a member of the Jember Regency DPRD,” he added.
Furthermore, member of the hearing, Yunico Syahrir, said that Syahri violated several articles of the Gerindra Party’s AD/ART. For example, Article 16, paragraph 2 of the Gerindra Party’s AD, regarding upholding the name and honour of the Gerindra Party.
In addition, Syahri violated Article 67, paragraph 5 of the Articles of Association, the Cadre Oath; Article 68 of the AD, the Identity of Party Cadres; Article 2, paragraph 1 of the Articles of Association; Article 2, paragraph 2 of the Articles of Association; and Article 2, paragraph 4 of the Articles of Association.
Syahri, who went viral for playing games and smoking during a meeting, conveyed his apology. The legislator, who is affectionately known as Gus Syahri, admitted his mistake for the behaviour that was considered unethical.
“I am aware of what I did. I made a mistake. Hopefully, this will be a lesson in my life,” he said, as reported by detikJatim, Thursday (14/5).
