Gerindra Issues Stern Warning to DPRD Member Who Smoked and Played Games During Meeting
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Gerindra party has issued a final stern warning to Ahmad Syahri As-Siddiq, a member of the Gerindra faction in the Jember DPRD, after his actions of playing games and smoking during a working meeting went viral on social media.
The decision was read out during a session of the Gerindra Party’s Honorary Council in Jakarta, Friday (15/5/2026), chaired by Fikrah Auliaurrahman.
“Issuing a stern and final warning to Mr. Ahmad Syahri As-Siddiq, a Bachelor of Economics, a member of the Gerindra Party faction in the Jember Regency DPRD,” said the Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Honorary Council, Fikrah Auliaurrahman, while reading the decision on Friday.
In decision number 05-004/PTS/MK.GERINDRA/2026, Syahri was found to have violated Article 16, paragraph 2 of the Gerindra Party’s Articles of Association regarding the obligation to maintain the party’s name and honour.
He was also deemed to have violated the cadre oath in Article 67, paragraph 5 of the Gerindra Party’s Articles of Association, which requires cadres to maintain the honour, dignity, and solidarity of the party.
In addition, the council stated that Syahri’s actions were in conflict with Article 68 of the Articles of Association regarding the identity of party cadres, which requires cadres to act politely, disciplined, and humbly in their daily lives.
“If in the future Mr. Ahmad Syahri As-Siddiq, a Bachelor of Economics, commits another violation, he will immediately be subject to the sanction of dismissal as a member of the Jember Regency DPRD,” said Fikrah.
In the viral video, Syahri appeared to be playing a game, allegedly Clash of Clans, while holding a cigarette during the meeting.
The incident occurred when Commission D of the Jember DPRD held a hearing with the Health, Population Control and Family Planning Office, BPJS Kesehatan, the Social Service, and representatives from 15 community health centres on Monday (11/5/2026).
The atmosphere of the ethics hearing at the DPP Gerindra Party office was serious.
Based on Kompas.com’s observations in the hearing room, Syahri wore a white safari shirt, cream-coloured trousers, and a black peci.
He sat upright behind a round table facing the panel of judges.
