Gerindra hands over legal process to completion regarding Kuansing Regent

The Gerindra Party has handed over the entire legal process to law enforcement officials regarding the case of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby, who is a Gerindra cadre. Gerindra Party spokesperson Sugiat Santoso said the party respects the legal process. According to him, the Gerindra Party is impartial towards anyone involved in corruption cases. “We will hand over the entire process to law enforcement officials to be processed thoroughly,” Sugiat said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He noted that Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto has repeatedly reminded Gerindra cadres and all Indonesian people not to attempt corruption. This is especially true for those holding mandates in the executive or legislative branches. “As always mandated by Mr Prabowo as Chairman of the Gerindra Party, we respect every legal process, especially those related to corruption enforcement,” he stated. Sugiat said Prabowo has often conveyed that no one is immune to the law, even if they feel close to power. As an example, he cited the law enforcement action taken against a former head of the National Nutrition Agency some time ago. “Like the MBG case yesterday, someone considered closest to Mr Prabowo, when he was involved in a corruption case, was processed according to the applicable legal rules,” he said. Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that Suhardiman Amby, the Regent of Kuansing for the 2025-2030 period, was suspected of being involved in the buying and selling of positions since serving as Acting Regent of Kuansing in 2021. Acting KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein explained that the KPK suspects Suhardiman Amby was involved in this matter together with Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain. “ZKN allegedly gave a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar worth Rp700 million to the Acting Regent at that time in connection with the filling of the position of Head of the PUPR (Public Works and Spatial Planning) Office of Kuansing in 2021,” Taufik said at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday.
