Gerindra hands over legal process to completion regarding Kuansing Regent

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Gerindra Party has delegated the entire legal process to law enforcement authorities regarding the case involving the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby, who is a member of the Gerindra cadre.

Gerindra Party Spokesperson Sugiat Santoso stated that the party respects the legal process. According to him, the Gerindra Party will not show leniency to anyone involved in corruption issues.

“We will leave the entire process to the law enforcement agencies to be processed as thoroughly as possible,” Sugiat said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

He added that the General Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, has repeatedly reminded Gerindra members and all Indonesian people not to attempt corruption, especially for those holding mandates within the executive and legislative branches.

“As always mandated by Mr Prabowo as the General Chairman of the Gerindra Party, we respect every legal process, especially regarding anti-corruption enforcement,” he said.

Sugiat noted that Prabowo has frequently stated that no one is immune to the law, regardless of their proximity to power. He cited the recent legal action taken against a former leader of the National Nutrition Agency as an example.

“In the case of MBG recently, which people considered to be very close to Mr Prabowo, when they were involved in a corruption case, they were processed according to the applicable laws,” he said.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the Regent of Kuansing for the 2025-2030 period, Suhardiman Amby (SA), is alleged to have been involved in the trading of positions since serving as the Acting Regent of Kuansing in 2021.

Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, explained that the KPK suspects Suhardiman Amby was involved in this activity alongside the Regional Secretary of Kuansing, Zulkarnain (ZKN).

“ZKN allegedly provided a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Dakar unit worth IDR 700 million to the Acting Regent at that time in relation to the appointment of the Head of the Kuansing Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) in 2021,” Taufik said at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/7).
