Gerindra Faction Criticises Waste and Cable Chaos in Badung
The Gerindra Party faction of the Badung Regency Regional House of Representatives has criticised a number of public services in the area known as Gumi Keris. They urged the Badung Regency Government to immediately formulate a concrete formula for handling waste, traffic congestion, disorganised utility cables, and the proliferation of illegal online motorcycle taxis in the region.
“Regarding public services, we recommend the government immediately address the issues of waste, traffic jams, disorganised utility networks, and increasing criminality in tourist destinations. Swift action is needed to organise the Samigita, Petitenget, Umalas, Canggu, and surrounding areas because the rise of illegal online motorcycle taxis and chaotic parking has created disorder,” said the Secretary of the Gerindra Faction of the Badung DPRD, Ida Bagus Gede Putra Manubawa, while reading the faction’s general view during a plenary session at the DPRD Badung building on Monday (13/7/2026).
This spotlight formed part of the faction’s critical notes on the Draft Regional Regulation on the Accountability for the Implementation of the Badung Regency Budget for the 2025 Fiscal Year. Beyond transportation issues, the council also requested the normalisation of rivers and the provision of cleaning facilities in coastal areas frequently affected by seasonal waste, to be prioritised in the budgeting.
“We request flood anticipation in the Kunti industrial area and its surroundings, including the 7-kilometre Tukad Mati normalisation project which has not yet run optimally. Furthermore, the request for the procurement of a beach waste truck at Nyanyi Beach by the local traditional village must be realised immediately to anticipate the arrival of waste shipments each season,” Manubawa added.
Despite providing a number of evaluative notes on public services and asset management, the Gerindra Faction stated that it accepted and approved the fiscal accountability report to be enacted as a Regional Regulation. This step was taken after going through various stages of internal review and alignment with the Audit Result Report from the Bali Provincial Audit Board.
“Based on the official mechanism that has been passed, starting from the regent’s explanation, the Audit Board’s report in the form of an Unqualified Opinion, to the review by expert staff, we agree to approve this draft regional regulation for enactment. However, the function of this report must remain an instrument for performance evaluation, not merely an administrative formality,” added the politician from Buduk Village, Mengwi, Badung.
Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa stated he would follow up on a number of crucial notes raised by the DPRD factions. These include handling traffic congestion, organising disorganised cables, waste management, flood mitigation, and crime issues.
“Including indications that many illegal online motorcycle taxis need to be brought under control,” Adi Arnawa added.
