Gerindra Examines Threshold Limit That Does Not Burden Other Political Parties
Jakarta - Gerindra’s Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that his party is seeking a threshold limit in the Electoral Law Revision Bill (RUU Pemilu) that does not burden other political parties.
According to Dasco, discussions on the threshold are still in the initial stage and have not been decided.
Several options are still being examined by each political party.
“Yes, we are looking at a threshold that, we think, will not burden the other parties,” said Dasco when met at the House of Representatives Building on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
He emphasised that there has been no official discussion between parties regarding the threshold scheme for the RUU Pemilu to date.
“There has been no such discussion. We have not yet coordinated with the parties. Because we are still focused internally in each party to then create the formula,” he said.
This process is considered important so that the resulting regulations are more mature.
He also reminded that the RUU Pemilu discussions should not be rushed.
According to him, forced regulation drafting could potentially cause legal issues in the future.
“Do not let us rush or hurry the Electoral Law, then there will be lawsuits again,” said Dasco.
Therefore, there is no reason to accelerate the discussions without comprehensive studies.
“With the old Electoral Law, the stages can still proceed,” Dasco concluded.
