Gerindra Denies Special Meeting to Monitor Vice President Gibran

The Gerindra Party faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has denied rumours of a special meeting led by faction chairman Budi Djiwandono to discuss monitoring the movements of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Faction Secretary Bambang Haryadi stated that the information circulating on social media was untrue. He said that in all faction meetings attended by Budi, the matter was never discussed.

“I always attend and co-lead the meetings in the Gerindra faction, and there was never any instruction or discussion regarding that matter,” Bambang said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He clarified that the actual information was that the Gerindra faction in the DPR had asked its members to monitor the economic conditions of the people in their respective electoral districts. Additionally, faction members were asked to ensure that government programmes are running well within the community.
